In the crucibles of the courtroom, corporate and government corridors of power, and the political battlefield, Alan has discovered and used to great effect the knowable, demanding, ironclad laws of momentum.

Today, applying his unique brand of Momentum Thinking™, Alan coaches executives and political leaders, and consults with them and the organizations they lead, to enable them to go from good to great, from success to significance.

Highlights of Alan's professional experience:

  • Attorney: A graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, Alan has had a wide range of experience providing strategic legal counsel to individuals, businesses, non-profits, and trade associations, helping clients large and small prevent or solve problems, negotiating challenging transactions, settling seemingly intractable disputes, and (when all else fails) successfully litigating on their behalf.

  • Government Affairs Professional: Working at federal, state, regional, and local levels, Alan has successfully advocated on behalf of individuals, businesses, non-profits, and trade associations on issues as diverse as tort reform, biotechnology, genetically modified foods, medical device, microlending, housing, homelessness, transportation, water, and nuclear waste disposal. He has also served as a field representative for one of California's most senior legislators, serving as liaison with local elected officials and community groups in a territory approximately 250 miles North-to-South and 190 miles East-to-West.

  • Political Strategist: Specializing in message, communications, media relations, and the management of complex political operations, Alan has been a senior advisor to, and political operative for, candidates for Congress, State Senate, State Assembly, District Attorney, City Council, and School Board. He has also served as executive director for one of the largest year-round political operations in America and managed a ground-breaking, fast-paced, half-million dollar member communications program for one of the most effective county political party operations in America.

  • University Professor: Alan has taught political science and business law to undergraduate students, business ethics to MBA students, and "power, politics and influence" in an executive studies program leading to the degree of Masters of Science in Leadership.

  • Civic Leader: Alan has served in leadership positions in prominent community organizations such as Acción San Diego (microlending), American Cancer Society, Foundation for a Quality San Diego (regional transportation issues), LEAD San Diego (civic leadership training and development), San Diego Business Roundtable for Education, San Diego's California Ballet, United Way of San Diego County, and Uptown Interfaith Service Center (inter-denominational ministry to the homeless)

Alan is a member in good standing of the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches, the National Speakers Association, the American Association of Political Consultants, and The State Bar of California.
